I have said this so much these past couple months but I feel welcomed back to my home state in CA for a long time I had to build and grind alone. To be welcomed like this with my vision and dream, it’s fueling to bring HERE what I built in the south BIGGER and BETTER than ever before cooking alongside my new bbq friends and family! This community is Incredible and unlike any other! I love you all! I feel the California LOVE!
I am now a proud owner of a @the.trueboard !!!!!!! This product is amazing! It has side by side heavy duty magnets to hold my knives securely, a drip stopper and drip pan to catch all the juices! And a heavy duty butcher cutting board! I am so so impressed I am going to invest in 3 more for my open fire carving stations! Highly recommend! So grateful to have met yall! Amazing Amazing Amazing! Grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Frugoni team @melindasfoods @alfrugoni and be part of something truly special. I had the honor of cooking whole pig surrounded by incredible chefs and pit masters at the @openfiremeatup @memphisinmay .
I learned so much watching different techniques, taking in advice from everyone around me, and doing my best to honor each style I was taught. I ended up being the last cook standing, but more than anything, I walked away with knowledge, respect, and deeper appreciation for this craft.
Huge thank you to the leadership team—especially Captain and the entire Frugoni crew—for the trust, hospitality, and experience. Being surrounded by such talent and passion was inspiring, and I don’t take a single moment of it lightly.

Mother’s Day weekend is almost here and it’s go time. π₯β€οΈπ₯
The next two days are full prep mode —mountains of Tri Tip, Pork Ribs, carne asada, vegetables, fire prep, seasoning, loading trailers, and getting everything ready for Saturday at Debellis Ranch in Acton, California.
As a mother myself, one of the biggest reasons I push so hard is to show my kids that you must go after your dreams, work with your hands, take risks, and build something from nothing. I may not have a huge name in California yet, but I have heart, passion, grit, and a work ethic that refuses to quit. I’m going to make this happen one fire at a time.
I’m proud to be representing myself and Ember & Spice Co @emberandspiceco during this collaboration and bringing people together through live fire cooking, community, and unforgettable experiences.

What a day… and what a TEST.
The wind was no joke π¬οΈ
We’re talking steady gusts pushing 17mph to gusts 30 mph, and I’m out there with my live fire setup completely exposed. No smoker box. No shield. Just me, the fire, and the elements.
And honestly… I was nervous.
But this is what I do.
I worked with the wind, not against it—managing the fire, adjusting heat zones, and staying locked in the entire time.
π₯ Dish: “Ethiopia Meets Mexico”
Mesquite live-fire St. Louis ribs
• Berbere-inspired rub (fenugreek, cardamom, cloves, ginger, layered chiles)
• Guajillo-forward heat
• Piloncillo guava BBQ + mesquite smoked honey glaze
• Tatemado salsa verde–inspired chutney
• Chicharrón crumble for texture
Cooked 100% over live fire. No shortcuts.
And here’s the crazy part…
I finished before the heavy gusts really started hitting hard.
A lot of teams were working with offset smokers and enclosed setups—meanwhile I was fully exposed to the elements. That timing? That mattered.

Today I present Ethiopia Meets Mexico—St. Louis ribs cooked entirely over a mesquite charcoal fire.
This dish is inspired by the shared language of fire and spice across cultures. I built a berbere-inspired rub using fenugreek, cardamom, clove, ginger, and layered chilies—bringing in both traditional warmth and Mexican influence with guajillo.
Instead of offset smoking, these ribs are cooked over live fire, allowing for direct heat control. You’ll notice a defined bark, an intentional char, and a structured bite with a clean pull from the bone—showcasing fire management rather than smoke dependence.
They’re wrapped and finished in a piloncillo guava BBQ and mesquite honey glaze—balancing spice with a deep, caramelized sweetness.
Alongside that, I’ve created a tatemado salsa verde inspired by chutney—using charred jalapeño, green onion, cilantro, and charred chayote—for brightness, acidity, and a subtle smokiness.
The chicharrón crumble adds texture and contrast to the dish.
Overall, this plate is about balance—heat, sweetness, acidity, and texture—brought together through controlled live fire and cultural connection
